Update for 2009 - Mycotoxins in Cereals
Following earlier warnings on Mycotoxins in cereals, Nidera UK Ltd. would like to put emphasis on the issue once again. We would like farmers to be fully aware of the situation concerning Mycoxtins in cereals and strongly recommend them to read the below information carefully.

HGCA has revised their risk assessment tool after detailed analysis of fusarium mycotoxins risk factors in the 2008 harvest. Farmers can use the tool to obtain an overall risk value. Please visit HGCA’s website to get more information and to download the tool. HGCA also provides a topic sheet that updates earlier publications on the Risk Assessment Scheme and shows how farmers can assess online information, see Topic Sheet No.104/Summer 2009.

As from July 2006 new legal EU limits for mycotoxins produced by various fusarium species apply to grain intended for human consumption. These fusarium diseases are now measured in milling wheat and malting barleys. If levels of toxins are too high, the crop can be rejected at intake. Nidera UK Ltd. strongly advises farmers also to read previous information on Mycotoxins.
